Why Is the Qatar A1 Visa Through Hayya Taking Long? And How Can You Get It Faster?

The Qatar visa process, especially for A1 tourist visas have been experiencing some delays with some being processed even after 2 months.

If your nationality requires a Qatar pre-approved visa, you may have noticed slower processing times.

The delay started being reported around early 2024, but it did not affect all countries that need a pre-approved visa.

Some travelers reported wait times of more than 3 weeks, while others surprisingly got theirs in 10 minutes.

And what is more interesting is that there are cases where travelers from the same country got different wait times: some got it almost immediately, while others waited more than a month.

Personally, my previous application wait times were all under 24 hours. That is in 2024 and early 2025.

However, late 2025 was different. My visa is still pending 1 week after I applied, and Hayya support does not provide any information on the status or possible approval times.

So, why are visas that used to be so easy now becoming a headache?

The main reason is that the Qatari government is imposing stricter scrutiny on applications from people of specific nationalities.

I wrote another article breaking down all the reasons in detail. Today, let’s focus on how to avoid the problem.

How to Avoid Qatar Visa Delays

1. Apply Early

Apply 2 months before your trip.

2. Don’t pay for flight tickets early

And if you must book early:

  • Choose tickets with full refunds
  • Avoid non-refundable deals
  • Paying slightly more to get cancellation protection saves you from huge losses

3. Book hotels with free cancellation

This gives you the flexibility to adjust or cancel in case of delays. I was able to cancel my Booking.com reservation and got the full refund.

4. Consider a reputable agent

Another option is to use a reputable agent to submit your application. Qatar might give these agents priority over individual applications.

Keep this in mind:

  • Most agents want you to book the entire trip with them
  • They rarely accept applications for visa-only services, as they will not make as much money by just processing your visa.
