Introduction
There are many Kenyans in the UAE, and the country’s labor market continues to demand Kenyan workers.
Kenyans do pose an advantage and that is why many employers will prefer them to other nationalities. Some of the advantages include:
- A good command of English
- The ability to be professional
- And a strong education system back home
Even those without degrees often have solid communication skills, which puts them ahead in many non-specialized roles.

Many cafés and hotel chains in Dubai prefer Kenyans for their professionalism and customer service skills. I have actually been served by two Kenyan baristas at a cafe in Dubai, and I can attest that their skills are top notch, the coffee was good.
3. Customer Service / Customer Experience
Because of strong English skills and professionalism, Kenyans thrive in:
- Customer support
- Front desk roles
- Call centers
- Concierge services
4. Security Sector

Security is taken seriously in the UAE, and these jobs are more respected and better paying than in Kenya. It is still not the most glamorous job but it at least pays well. You will find guards in areas such as:
- Malls – I have seen many at the Dubai Mall
- Residential buildings
- Corporate towers
- Hotels
- Major companies like G4S
5. Domestic Work (Maids / Housekeepers)
While the sector has mixed stories, many Kenyan domestic workers still work in this area. Some have positive experiences as they get good families in which they work for.
Some of these maids earn around AED 3,000 (approx. KES 100,000–120,000) and can support their families back home.
However, it’s very important to secure such roles through legitimate channels and not through rogue agents.
6. Transportation Sector
The transportation sector is another big area where you will find a lot of Kenyans stationed. If you have been to Dubai, you must have seen or suspected that one of the staff on the Dubai metro was Kenyan.
Other areas include:
- Logistics/transport staff
- Drivers
- Delivery personnel

Networking Matters
A big truth in Dubai is:
“Your network is your net worth.”
Many Kenyans secure high-quality jobs through:

- Friends already working in Dubai
- Connections built online
