Dubai can get quite expensive. It is ranked as the 12th most expensive city for…

Introduction

Dubai, like any other city on earth, experiences fluctuating costs for hotels, activities, and more.

And if you are planning a trip to Dubai, then you will probably be researching the best time to travel to Dubai as well as the cheapest time to do so.

However, in this article, I want us to look at the most expensive month and period and maybe that will guide your decision on when to visit this magnificent emirate.

Which Month is the Most Expensive?

December takes the crown for the most expensive month to visit Dubai.

There are a couple of reasons, discussed below, why prices surge in November and especially in December.

Youā€™ll actually notice that even budget hotels like ibis styles Deira or other hotels like Super 8, Wyndham chain of hotels see a significant surge of room rates per night.

Why is this period expensive? Understanding pricing trends in Dubai

There are a few key reasons why December is the priciest month. Letā€™s explore some of them:

  • Dubai Shopping Festival – The festival usually takes place from December to January. The Dubai Shopping Festival 2024 – 2025 dates have already been announced.
  • Winter escape – A lot of tourists will be flocking Dubai to escape the winter period in their country
  • New Years Eve parties – Dubai offers some amazing New Year parties from live performances to celebrity concerts and family fun fairs.

When to travel to Dubai without breaking the bank

If you want to experience Dubai without the fear of eating one type of food when you get home, go during the summer months (June, July, August). The drawback is that it’s scorching during this period.

The best alternative is to go in March/Early April – Itā€™s as affordable as the summer months minus the heat.

During these two periods, youā€™ll enjoy cheaper hotel rates, as well as price discounts on activities.

Keep in mind that Ramadan might fall in March or early April, so you’ll need to plan ahead.

During this time, there are restrictions like not eating in public and some places may have different opening hours. Make sure to check when Ramadan happens.

That said, traveling during Ramadan has its benefitsā€”hotel rooms are much cheaper, and if you’re there for the end of Ramadan, you can enjoy some great feasts and special offers.

Iā€™ve been to Dubai and Doha during Ramadan, and even though there were some restrictions, we got big discounts on hotels.

There you have it. As much as December is expensive, it offers a great festive atmosphere which is incredible.
