After 2 years of not flying to Lagos, Nigeria, Emirates Airlines has resumed daily flights to and from the capital.

Emirates Airlines announced that they will resume direct flight to Nigeria’s largest city, Lagos after a 2 year suspension.

“We are excited to resume our services to Nigeria. The Lagos-Dubai service has traditionally been popular with customers in Nigeria and we hope to reconnect leisure and business travellers to Dubai and onwards to our network of over 140 destinations.  We thank the Nigerian government for their partnership and support in re-establishing this route and we look forward to welcoming passengers back onboard.” Said the Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim.

The suspension came in 2022 when there were unresolved issues between the airline and Nigerian authorities including amounts of about $85 million belonging to Emirates that was locked in Nigeria.

The suspension lift will be a positive to the Nigerian people as Emirates SkyCargo will also resume its services and is poised to bolster Nigerian businesses by facilitating the export of their goods through the hub in Dubai.

This will enable Nigerian exporters to reach key markets including the UAE, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Bahrain, with anticipated commodities such as kola nuts, food and beverages, and time-sensitive courier materials.

The flights will be on a daily basis and have the following schedule:

  • Dubai-Lagos: Depart DXB at 10:30 am (Dubai time) and arrive at LOS at 4:10pm (Nigeria time)
  • Lagos-Dubai: Depart LOS at 5:55 pm (Nigeria time) and arrive at DXB at 5:30 am (Dubai time)

The time difference is 3 hours. Dubai is 3 hours ahead.

Emirates Airline flies to 19 destinations across Africa and is looking to cement its place as the number one Middle Eastern carrier in the continent. However, they face stiff competition from Qatar Airways who more often than not, have cheaper fares to destinations across the globe.

Emirates will be flying the Boeing 777-300ER on the Dubai—Lagos route. This is a two-isle plane with 8 first-class suites, 42 Business-Class seats, and 304 economy-class seats. Passengers

Fun Fact: There are 23 Nigerian movies on the Emirate’s ICE inflight entertainment system.
