Dubai, UAE – February 7, 2025 – Emaar, one of Dubai’s largest real estate developers and the developer of The Dubai Mall and the Dubai Fountain, has announced that the world-famous Dubai Fountain will temporarily close for five months to undergo a significant upgrade. The closure will commence in May, with the attraction expected to reopen in October of 2025.
The Dubai Fountain, located at the base of the Burj Khalifa and next to Dubai Mall, is the largest choreographed fountain system and usually attracts millions of tourists every year.
It features 6,600 lights and 25 colored projectors creating an unforgettable show. It is estimated that it cost AED 800 million ($ 212 million) to construct.

Emaar has reassured visitors that the closure is a step toward delivering an even more breathtaking spectacle when the fountain returns. With innovation at its core, the upgraded Dubai Fountain promises to redefine entertainment in the heart of the city.
What to Expect from the Upgrade?
Emaar, through a statement, has revealed that the upgrades will include advanced technology, improved choreography, and an enhanced sound and lighting system.
The goal is to elevate the already mesmerizing performances, ensuring that the Dubai Fountain continues to be a world-class experience.
Currently, the fountain’s powerful jets propel up to 22,000 gallons of water into the air, reaching heights of upto 150 meters. Some of the songs that play during the show include Thriller by Michael Jackson, Time to Say Goodbye by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman, Power by K-pop group EXO, as well as Arabic tunes which are really pleasing to the ear.
Planning to Visit Dubai Between May and October?
If you had already planned to visit Dubai during the upgrades, no need to cancel your trip. There are many other attractions that you can visit, such as the Global Village, Dubai Frame, among others.
Emaar is doing the renovations during this period as it is considered an off-peak time for Dubai. October to February is peak hence them wanting to re-open by October in anticipation of the millions of tourists who visit Dubai every year.
