Introduction
Buying alcohol in Dubai is not as straightforward as in most cities, especially if you are buying from a liquor store. There are two main licensed sellers of alcohol in Dubai, MMI and African + Eastern. (There are others)
Remember, you need to show your passport at these stores so that they can verify that you are a tourist and therefore give you a temporary permit to buy alcohol.

If you are buying alcohol from a restaurant or hotel, then you do not need to get the permit. This is only required when buying alcohol from liquor stores.
