Gulf Air is a lesser-known Middle-Eastern airline and the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
What is interesting is that the airline started in 1950, 43 years before Qatar Airways and 35 years after Emirates.
One of the reasons, we speculate, that the airline is not as popular as the other major regional airlines is the difference in investment in tourism of Qatar and the UAE compared to Bahrain.
With that said, things are changing. According to the government, $10 billion is being directly invested in “tourism infrastructure projects, such as new hotels and museums, to provide a strong support for exploration and tourism in Bahrain.”
However, this article is on the cabin crew salary and not on the history of Gulf Air or tourism in Bahrain. We have a dedicated article on that here: The History of Gulf Air.
Gulf Air Salary Structure
The structure is a bit different from that of Emirates and Qatar Airways. It includes:
- Basic Gross Salary
- Standard productive allowances per hour from sign-in to sign-off
- Duty day allowances per day – Acts as your fly pay
- Meal allowance
How Much is the Gulf Air Salary for a Cabin Crew?
Basic Total Gross Salary is $2,380 – This is the total average you might earn per month. The breakdown is as follows:
| Basic Salary | Around $1,000 |
| Duty Day Allowance | $21 |
| Duty Time/Productive Allowance (Per hour) | $4 |
| Meal Allowance | $21 |
| Unscheduled overtime (Per hour after exceeding 100 hours) | $5.30 |
Gulf Air is a great option for starting your cabin crew career. It’s less busy than other airlines in the region, giving you valuable experience without too much pressure.
While you may not travel to as many countries as with other airlines, you’ll still get good exposure and a competitive salary.
