Dubai, April 19, 2025 — Tourists and residents in their thousands will be today gathering in Dubai for what will be the final performance of the Dubai Fountain show before the attraction closes temporarily for major upgrades.
Originally scheduled to shut down in May 2025, Emaar, the developer behind the Dubai Fountain, Burj Khalifa, and The Dubai Mall, confirmed that the closure has been brought forward, making tonight’s show the last until October 2025.
The Dubai Fountain, located at the base of the Burj Khalifa, is the world’s largest choreographed fountain system and a central attraction in Downtown Dubai. Known for its dazzling water displays, synchronized to music and enhanced by 6,600 lights and 25 color projectors, the fountain attracts millions of visitors each year.
The closure marks the beginning of a five-month renovation project, which Emaar says is aimed at elevating the fountain’s experience with cutting-edge technology, improved choreography, and enhanced sound and lighting systems.
“Dubai Fountain is more than a spectacle—it is a reflection of Dubai’s soul,” said Mohamed Alabbar, Founder of Emaar. “As we elevate this iconic landmark, we continue to create experiences that connect people, inspire wonder, and stand the test of time.”
The early closure is also aligned with Dubai’s tourism calendar. Emaar strategically chose this off-peak season (May to September) for the revamp, ensuring that the fountain is back and better than ever for the high season starting in October, when millions flock to the city.
What to Expect from the New Fountain Show
Emaar has promised that the newly upgraded Dubai Fountain will be even more spectacular. Though details are still under wraps, visitors can expect new music selections, improved water choreography, and a more immersive experience thanks to updated audiovisual systems.
Currently, the fountain’s water jets can shoot up to 150 meters in the air, moving to songs like “Thriller” by Michael Jackson, “Time to Say Goodbye” by Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman, and popular K-pop and Arabic hits.
